What does it take to be a volunteer?

We love people that want to give back! We’d like to communicate that we’re working on some of the hardest problems in technology for high-tech nonprofits like the Mifos Initiative. Not your typical website volunteer platform, we usually look for skills in JavaScript, Ruby, Python, PHP, database administration, open source platforms and other cloud technologies. If you’re more inclined to help nonprofits with marketing and web design – we’re happy to give you a few other options – but our niche is a bit different.

What’s your skill level?

Beginner (Less than 3 years experience)

We usually don’t have many projects for beginners. Our niche is working on the really hard stuff! Don’t worry – there are tons of places to use your skills for good. Here’s a few:

Intermediate (3 – 8 years)

Most of our projects fall within this range! Our big thing is time. Do you have time to commit to a nonprofit who really needs a clear solution? At the very least we’re looking for five hours of your time for a 4 – 8 week period.

Expert (8+ years)

If your skills are geared towards software and web development, we’d love to talk to you!

Make sure you have 16 – 40 hours to commit to a project before submitting your resume, and please keep your commitments – nonprofit projects are time-sensitive and if we match you to a project and you leave, you put them in a difficult position.
